Namiro Hasifah was SACU’s first graduate and has volunteered to become part of Save African Child Uganda’s Board Member. She is a dedicated committee member and fulfills her responsibilities as the secretary for SACU’s Ugandan Team. Namiro is known for her beauty, intelligence and passion who truly wears her heart on her sleeve. She has never forgotten where she started in life and how much she has overcome to be where she is today. Namiro became an orphan when she lost her parents at a very young age of 2. She was brought to the village of Buwundo to be raised by her grandmother who was also caring for her brother Ivan.
She was sponsored in 2011 by a Canadian couple to attend Kizigo Secondary High School. Tony and Jeanne continued to sponsor Namiro throughout her college years enabling her to fulfill her dream of attaining an Early Childhood Development certificate. Namiro is known to be the first female College Graduate from the village of Buwundo. She soon became the Head Teacher at an infant school located in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. A few years later she accepted the position of Principal at Priest Junior School.
Namiro Hasifah frequently comes back to the village of Buwundo to spend time with SACU’s staff and children. She speaks to the girls about the importance of staying in school to receive a full education and to break the cycle of becoming pregnant at an early age. The mind set of most guardians, especially fathers, is for their daughters to go for early marriages so they may exchange a dowry. Her achievements have inspired many girls to focus on their studies and dare to dream of the possibilities of achieving their goals. Namiro has also given back financially to SACU on many occasions.
When she heard of Jaja’s home being destroyed by a heavy rain storm, she helped to purchase new windows and doors. Namiro also funded the creation of a playing field on SACU’s grounds. She contracted an engineering company to clear the land and level the ground for SACU’s sport activities. Namiro is also known to assist Ivan and Ann with the shopping for the shelter children and help with chores in SACU’s two shelters.
SACU is so GRATEFUL to Namiro Hasifah’s for remembering her grassroots and to her Sponsors for helping to make her dreams come true. May Namiro always be BLESSED and to remember the Tony and Jeanne and their Family for “Changing Namiro’s Life Story” ~ May their souls Rest In Peace
